The Magellan Academy is a leader in the child development community and is highly recognized as great place to work. Opportunities exist for well-trained, well-educated and motivated child development professionals. Our minimum requirements for employment as a teacher trainee are the 10/40-hour courses required by the State of Florida. We prefer that you have your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential before coming on board, but, if you do not have it, you may be given a temporary waiver to allow you to achieve your credential.
The Magellan Academy’s pay scale is based on your educational and training achievements. The more you learn, the more you achieve, the higher your value to the children, their families and Magellan – therefore, the higher your wages. Our training department will give you a thorough full-day orientation before stepping foot into a classroom followed by competency testing. Within the first 3 months of your hire, you will receive Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training by our American Heart Association-certified school nurse. Additionally, you will receive quarterly in-service training. After the first three months, and annually thereafter, you will receive comprehensive performance evaluations to assist you in fine tuning your skills. Part of your wage structure will be based upon your effectiveness in your classroom.
Equal Opportunity Policy: It is the policy of The Magellan Academy to provide equal opportunity at our centers to all adults, children, staff members, and parents, and not to discriminate on any basis prohibited by law, including race, color, sex, age, religion, national origin, disability, marital status, or status as a veteran of the Vietnam era.
