The Magellan Academy’s development and care of infants is unprecedented in the childcare industry. The Magellan Academy provides far more services for the 6 weeks to 12 months age range than even the above average childcare center. Great care is undertaken to assure the infants are provided a sanitary location to rest, play and learn. The infants are trained in baby sign language further cementing Magellan’s emphasis on academia versus just being a babysitter.
Workers and parents are required to wear shoe covers to help prevent the spread of bacteria on the surfaces where the children are located. All rooms in the school are sanitized nightly by a paid janitorial service. Infants are provided separate areas for rest, play, and lessons to assist in eliminating outside distractions.
Because understanding of language and motor skills develop much faster than the ability to speak, The Magellan Academy utilizes baby sign language as part of the infant curriculum. Baby signing was originally developed to assist deaf parents to communicate with their infants. Baby signing can greatly assist non-deaf parents also. If an infant can sign for what they want instead of screaming, everyone- mom, dad and baby- will be happier. Learn more about baby signing here www.signingbaby.com.
